Alexander H. Enk, MD
ISID President, 2014-2019
Dr. Enk has served as Professor and Chairman of the Department of Dermatology at the University of Heidelberg, Germany, since 2004.He received his M.D. at the University of Münster, Germany in 1988. Afterwards, Dr. Enk completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the laboratory of Dr. S.I. Katz at the Dermatology Branch of the NCI from 1990-1993 and became a trained dermato-immunologist. On his return to Germany he completed his residency in Dermatology at the Dept. of Dermatology in Mainz, Germany in 1994.
Alice P. Pentland, MD
ISID Secretary-Treasurer, 2014-2018
Dr. Pentland has served as Professor and Chair of Dermatology at the University of Rochester for 28 years. She received her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Michigan. She specializes in the treatment of Bullous diseases, such as Pemphigus and Bullous Pemphigoid. Dr. Pentland has dedicated her career to creating a rich, diverse, interdisciplinary clinical and research environment within the department at the University of Rochester.
Masayuki Amagai, MD, PhD

Dr. Masayuki Amagai is Director of the RIKEN Center for Integrative Medical Sciences and Professor and Chair of the Department of Dermatology at Keio University School of Medicine. He previously served as Dean of Keio University School of Medicine (2017–2021) and Vice President for Research at Keio University (2021–2025).
Chris Griffiths, OBE, MD, FMedSci
ISID Treasurer, 2020-2024
Dr. Griffiths is Emeritus Professor of Dermatology, University of Manchester, Adjunct Professor, King’s College London and a Consultant Dermatologist, King’s College Hospital. He qualified in medicine from St Thomas’ Hospital Medical School and trained in dermatology in London and Michigan. In 1994, Chris was appointed to the Foundation Chair in Dermatology at the University of Manchester and established the Manchester Dermato-pharmacology Unit and the Manchester Psoriasis Service. He has received many awards for his work including OBE “for services to dermatology” in the 2018 Queen’s New Year’s Honors. He is an NIHR Emeritus Senior Investigator and a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences.
Russell P. Hall III, MD
ISID President, 2020-2024
Dr. Hall is the J. Lamar Callaway Distinguished Professor of Dermatology, in the School of Medicine at Duke University. Dr. Hall was trained in internal medicine and dermatology at St. Louis University, the University of Missouri- Columbia and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He completed a research fellowship in the Dermatology Branch of the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health. After 5 years at the NIH joined Duke’s faculty as an assistant professor of medicine in 1984. He served as the Chief of the Division of Dermatology at Duke from 1998-2009, then as Chair of the newly established Department of Dermatology at Duke from 2009-2021.
